Our Pineapple Represents Hospitality

Neighbor to Neighbor of America is a new resident welcoming service. Our company logo, the Pineapple, represents the colonial period of hospitality. When sea captains returned home from voyages to the South Seas, they would place a pineapple on their gateposts or doorways as a public symbol of safe return and a warm invitation for friends and neighbors to visit.

Colonial craftsmen frequently carved pineapples into fine furniture and home architecture. Today, the pineapple remains a timeless mark of warmth, welcome, and community connection.

How We Started

Neighbor to Neighbor was founded by Robert Magovern, who continues to lead the organization today. In 1975, Mr. Magovern purchased a regional welcoming service operating in Fairfield County, Connecticut, renamed the company Neighbor to Neighbor, and adopted the Pineapple as our official mark.

Over the following decades, Neighbor to Neighbor expanded well beyond Fairfield County to serve communities across Northern Connecticut and extensive regions of Western Massachusetts in the Pioneer Valley.

Keeping Tradition Alive

For over 50 years, Neighbor to Neighbor has developed refined methods for introducing new residents to their local area. While national greeting organizations changed or phased out local community connections, Neighbor to Neighbor remained dedicated to personal community integration.
